Where will you be in 2020?

'Young, oh so young 16 year olds, their lives ahead of them, their choices so many and the unknown of what lies ahead of them.'

This is the dialogue that went on inside my head as I perused through my 16 year old son's year book. As is typical of such publications, students were asked to write where they want to be in 2020. Here is a sample of their responses:

* To have a job and travel.

* To be living in a beach house and just enjoying living.

* To be alive and well, happy and fit.

* Not living with mum and dad!

* To be a specialist doctor; to have a family with children.

* Travelling the world.

* Be in the Olympics for dressage.

* Leave it to the night before I have to decide.

* At the beach!

* Living in a house with my best friend getting fat eating nachos, lamingtons and mango juice; rocking out!

* In Hollywood, starting my acting career.

* An accountant with a great personality!

*Wherever my feet take me.

Where will you be in 2020?

Right where I am now, living with inspiration! I'm a firm believer in now. This moment is every bit a precious to me as those that have come before and those that are yet to come. Thank you for the question, I hadn't really thought about my answer until you asked, but I'm very glad that you did.

I'd be 42 in the year 2020. Hopefully that time I would be living with somebody significant to me, doing things that I enjoy the most.

Must have seem a common dream for many; but the details are private.

Am actually planning ahead for that day :)

Hi Mervat, thanks for the visit! Sixteen years from now? I hope to be ambulatory, cogent, and still alive. Great question.

Where will I be in 10 years?
Hmmm. . . let me think a moment. . .

Que Sera, Sera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Sera, Sera
What will be, will be.

@ Butternut Squash: I love your response and aspire to be like you, however I tend to be very impatient and planning what I do not achieve today, or even this month, way into the future. Yours are indeed wise words.

@ Shadowthorne @ Ramzu Zahini: Good luck on achieving those plans particularly if you are already working toward that goal.

@ lakeviewer: You are a thinker *and* a doer and I believe that these are important attributes for a long, active and thoughtful life.

@ Suko: Indeed there is no way of knowing so, que sera sera; however I still believe that our actions shape our destiny. Can we rely on fate alone?

Oh, yes. You are so right. We do shape our destinies. In 2010, I wish us all continued health and happiness. :)

2020? Really?

I will be 39 turning 40 in June of that year. To look ahead I first must look back and see what I achieved in the past 10 years.

I did make a whole lot of mistakes, things that I wish I could take back. But I also made a lot of right choices (Sara is the product of that choice!).

I know I have grown a lot since 2000. Back then I was 20 and not really enjoying myself at all. I thought everyone hated me and I didn't really know who I was.

I know for sure that I want to be more comfortable with being me, and more content. And I don't think that these things will come from different external circumstances, but rather from whats within me.

By the time I am 39 I hope to learn more about me. I want the next 10 years to reflect that.

Great question mimi.

Love the one that says "wherever my feet take me." I actually would love to think that I would be traveling somewhere in this beautiful world in 2020.

Mervat, thanks so much for your support and friendship. It really means a lot to me :)

Where ever I find myself I'll definately be happy if I can still walk and chew gum - and maybe post on the net occasionally.

I'll be a happy apartment owner in Paris. (Now I'm not). I'll keep enjoying this magical city. I'll have organized several art exhibitions and I'm fully plunged into that...

This is fun Mervat... I could go on for a long time!
